An honest guide to choosing Your wedding photographer & filmmaker
No pressure, no jargon
- just the things I wish Couples knew before booking.
Created for couples who want to enjoy their wedding day, not overthink it.
Booking a photographer or filmmaker can feel overwhelming. Everyone sounds the same, styles blur together, and suddenly you’re expected to understand things like “documentary,” “editorial,” film formats, cameras, and coverage - while planning a wedding at the same time.
This guide exists to slow things down.
Not to tell you what to choose, but to help you understand what actually matters, so you can make decisions that feel right for you - without pressure, guesswork, or regret later.
So you won’t get tricked by things like :
”Get $2000 in extra value! You will get all the raw footage and all raw photos“
it’s like giving you a script instead of delivering a full movie -
it’s simply an unfinished product.

No pressure. Just something helpful.
I’m Raphael - a wedding photographer and filmmaker based in Sydney.
I’ve been documenting weddings for the last 10 years. Both in films and photographs.
I created this guide because I’ve seen how often couples feel stressed or confused during this part of planning, when it really doesn’t need to be that way.
My approach to weddings is calm, but fun, natural, and centred around real moments.
I believe the best memories come from feeling comfortable, understood, and able to enjoy the day with your people - and that starts long before the camera comes out.
If you like my approach - great! Love to hear more about your vision and how I can help make it happen.
What you can find inside the book :
What different photography and videography styles really mean (in normal language)
How documentary coverage differs from posed or staged approaches
What 35mm film photography is, and why people love how it feels
What Super 8 videography is - and when it adds something special
How coverage length actually affects your experience on the day
What questions are worth asking before you book
How to recognise the photographer or filmmaker who feels like the right fit for you
No technical overload. Just clarity.
And who This guide is for:
You care about how your wedding day feels, not just how it looks
You want to be present, relaxed, and comfortable
You’re choosing someone to be around you all day, not just take photos
You want to make a confident decision, not a rushed one
It might not be for you if:
You’re only comparing prices and packages
You already know exactly what style you want and just need a list
Both are totally okay - this guide is simply here to help, not convince.
